Surround sound

A Sonos® system was installed in the waiting room to provide the patient/listener with maximum sonic immersion and fidelity. Rather than the usual Sonos one or two-speaker multi-room setup, a multi-speaker setup was consolidated into one room. Included components were: two speakers above the listener; two speakers to the rear of the listener; one sub-woofer providing omni-directional bass in a corner area and a 19-speaker sound bar for mid- and high-range, placed behind the listener at seating level. All speaker volumes were able to be individually adjusted wirelessly, in real time, using the Sonos app, via desktop computer or iPhone.

Loudspeakers were chosen for sound fidelity and their relatively unobtrusive form factor. It was important that the listener can focus on the sound experience and not be distracted by hardware componentry.
